How to Decorate with Pantone's 2016 colors Rose Quartz & Serenity

Hola!
Lets talk colors today :)
Pantone is a world renowned authority on color who dictates the standard language for color communication from Fashion to Home & Interiors. Each year they release the color they believe will trend in all of these areas but this year they chose two. Introducing..
ROSE QUARTZ & SERENITY
PANTONE 13-1520 & PANTONE 15-3919

These soft hues are "reflecting consumers seeking mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace". Sounds wonderful right?
Whilst we have seen these hues mixed in the past to create sweet spaces, the moden twist in to pair them with constrasting or neutral partners such as Benjamin Moore's Stormy Sky and Simply White with pops of Aged Bronze for a metallic twist.

Whilst they do balance each other, you may find it easier to separate the two colors and use as accents to create a more timeless look.
Rose Quartz, for example pairs well with cool grays, crisp whites and bronze, gold or camel tones. Serenity can follow the same rules or consider bolder choices, like a sophisticated grays or rich browns. Metallic accents in silver or pewter are perfect accents and soften the coldness of darker pairs.
In the above room set we chose to use them as accents to a gray/white neutral background, the black and white art and black throw pillows keep the look modern. The gold accents from the table and floor lamp add a chic twist, with layers of faux furs to add elegance.
When using these as wall paint colors we have two approaches. You can use it in a big way - so in the whole room and ground the rest of the room with a balance of complimentary colors or use it as pops - repeating it 3 times in the room in various shades which will create a layering effect. Try to avoid matching everything as this can look overdone :)

We hope you enjoyed learning more about Pantone’s color of the year for 2016.
However you choose to use these colors in your space this year you will be sure enjoy their calming effects and as always we are here to help integrate them if you need us :) Let us know what you think in the comment section and have a great rest of your week!
